Today I was reading about the new and interesting Adobe AIR. I have never used any IDE like Eclipse/Dreamweaver ever before, but folks at Adobe feel that its easier and faster to use Dreamweaver or Aptana IDE for development of AIR applications with HTML and JavaScript. Dreamweaver being a paid software, I searched for Aptana and easily reached its website.
"Aptana is a free, open-source, cross-platform, JavaScript-focused editor and development environment for building Ajax applications" - in their own language. The site also promotes a range of videos for getting started. My basic instincts drove me to click on the " Getting Started" video. (which is hosted on http://www.aptana.tv !!)
This site also flashes another video to get started with the Adobe AIR plugin for Aptana, which I obviously clicked as this was what I went to Aptana.com for. Somewhere towards the end of the video, the recorder's desktop is visible. Though all the visible icons on her desktop were quite familiar to me except one. It was an icon to Camtasia 4.0.
After the video got over, out of curiosity, I searched for "camtasia" on Google. The first link lead me to this screen capture/recorder software's home page . As this software is again paid, I tried searching for opensource alternatives for this. And luckily enough I found "CamStudio".
So my journey on the web which started from Adobe's site ultimately landed on Blogger (a Google Site). As usual, I am writing this blog entry from my Gmail (another Google site) client. And I am sure, this entry will soon start showing up in the Google Search Result Pages (obviously Google) soon.
