By getting into this room, L11: Espresso, I knew I would be missing on the Usability discussion which was going on in room K11. Never mind, I am these days more interested in knowing more about Flex/AIR
The session was led by Mrinal Wadhwa, a Flex enthusiast and a popular guy in Flex Development in India.
Introduction to Flex
- Walk through http://www.flex.org/
Build HelloBarCamp Example
Differences Between Flash & Flex
Data Visualization in Flex - by (I don’t remember the name), who hijacked the session for this demo
Demo of a Sample Flex app: Buzzword
Adobe Integrated Runtime - AIR (The topic for which I was sitting in the room. Thanks Mrinal for the wonderful presentations; which was also built using AIR)
AIR Example - HelloWorld on Desktop
Power of AIR - Sample Apps (A very cool example which shows the drag drop of AIR charts on the desktop.)
Got to learn a lot like I never knew that Flash Player 9 has two vritual machines AVM1/AVM2 and its not the SWF file that is executed; its run through a Just in Time compiler before the VM comes into picture. Also that Google Finance uses Flash and not Flex. And that AIT has the power of registering the file extensions with the OS and so on.
Btw, thanks to the WiFi setup here, I was able to pay my telephone bill in the meantime. And ofcourse, gives me access to the blog.
