Download YouTube Videos

YouTube does not provide an option to download the video to your computer. I recently stumbled upon one Firefox extension that lets you do this. In addition to be able to download from YouTube this extension allows you to extract the FLV file from the Flash Player embedded inside your browser, from any site that plays videos (eg. Google Videos, MetaCafe etc.)
How to download videos:
Step 1: Download & Install Firefox(from here) if you have not already done that.
Step 2: Goto Install page of http://www.downloadhelper.net/ (from within Firefox)
Step 3: Follow simple steps to install the DownloadHelper Extension.
Step 4: Restart your firefox browser.
And you are done.

Now whenever you visit any video site(YouTube, Google Videos, MetaCafe etc.), you’ll be able to see a flashing icon of DownloadHelper in your browser’s address bar. Click on this animated icon and then click on the filename you want to download. The .flv file of the video will be downloaded on your machine so that you can view it later in any FLV player.
